Mini Session Tips

What to wear…

We highly recommend wearing outfits that match your personalities as well as the overall feel of your shoot. We know that matching white shirts and jeans are popular, but we suggest wearing earth tones (every color has its own earth tone) and complementary colors instead (see the below recommended color palatte). Avoid low-cut tops, patterns, shorts, heavy prints, and trends that will date your photos. Most importantly, wear outfits and colors you love and feel confident in!

Gents, consider wearing a collared shirt, this will help to frame your face, which gives a flattering/polished look.

Ladies, long sundresses and layered fall attire are always flattering and photograph well. Be sure to do your hair and makeup. This will help you feel a little more “done-up” as well as give a polished look to your portraits. You may want to pretty up your nails as well, they will most likely be in your photos. For maternity, long flowy dresses look beautiful for photos. Search for "long maternity dress for photoshoot". Amazon offers a lot of great options.

For the kiddos: make sure your little ones are fed and comfortable in what they’re wearing. Please bring them dressed in the outfits they will be wearing in the photos or arrive a few minutes early so it doesn't cut into your portrait time. You may want to consider bringing extra snacks just in case or treats that can be used as a bribe or reward. If it’s cool out, adding layers to your child’s outfit not only keeps them warm and comfy but looks stylish too. Earth tones and clothing without characters or symbols will photograph best.

What to Avoid…

We recommend avoiding alcoholic beverages as well as staying up too late the night before your portrait session. This will prevent puffy faces and dark circles around the eyes.

Please Do…

Smile, laugh, have fun and enjoy your time together during your shoot! ☺

We cannot stress enough how much the colors and styles of your wardrobe choices for your photos can change the outcome of the photograph. Below we have listed colors that looks best in photos as well as what colors to avoid.
